COUNTRY STAR RISSI PALMER TO PERFORM AT LIGHTING OF THE NATIONAL CHRISTMAS TREE IN WASHINGTON, D.C. - THURSDAY, DECEMBER 4, 2008

NASHVILLE, Tenn...Country star Rissi Palmer will perform for the President and the First Lady at the lighting of the National Christmas Tree in Washington, DC on Thursday, December 4. The event is free and open to the public and is presented before an audience of approximately 7,000 people on an outdoor stage on the Ellipse across from the White House.

2008 marks the 85th anniversary of this national tradition. Since 1923, the ceremony has signaled the start of the holiday season for all Americans. It is broadcast live from 5-6pm ET as a multi-camera switched feed news event made available via satellite for non-commercial use. C-SPAN, Armed Forces Radio and other outlets frequently carry the program live and in rebroadcast during the holiday season.

Past performers at the event include Tony Bennett, Placido Domingo, Dr. Maya Angelou, Wayne Newton, Aretha Franklin, Loretta Lynn, Trisha Yearwood, Patti LaBelle, LeAnn Rimes, Shirley Jones, Manhattan Transfer, Charlotte Church and many others.

Palmer, one of country music's most promising new stars, has received widespread national media attention since releasing her self-titled CD in 2007. She has been featured in Country Weekly, Redbook, Newsweek, People, The Wall Street Journal and VIBE magazine, with appearances on "CBS Saturday Early Show," "FOX & Friends," "Extra," "CNN," and much more.

"Country Girl," "Hold On To Me," and "No Air," have all become charted hits for the talented singer-songwriter, and her career shows no sign of slowing down. Palmer is currently working on her new album, slated for release in 2009 on 1720 Entertainment. For more information on Rissi Palmer, visit www.rissipalmer.com
