"COUNTRY GIRL" RISSI PALMER MAKES VIDEO DEBUTON CMT TOP 20 COUNTDOWN THURSDAY, MAY 31
Nashville, TN…May 24, 2007…On Thursday, May 31 fans will see why the industry is all abuzz about one of country music's hottest new star's on the rise, Rissi Palmer. Palmer's new video, "Country Girl" will make its world premiere on CMT during Top 20 Countdown with host Lance Smith (4pm ET – 7pm ET).
Palmer worked with video director Kristen Barlowe ("Bring It On Home" – Little Big Town, "Nothing Bout Love" – LeAnn Rimes, "Always Be My Baby" – Sara Evans) in her musical debut. In an effort to portray the song's lyrics and further illustrate that being country can really be just a "state of mind," Barlowe chose various locations in and around Memphis, Tennessee.
"The people in all of these places were amazing and so gracious!" Palmer gushes. "We witnessed southern hospitality at its finest. It was such a memorable and amazing experience for me!"
The video captures contrasting landscapes, as well as a diverse group of people varying in all ages and from all walks of life, including a cameo appearance by Palmer's grandmother, Mamie Shropshire.
"Kristin and the crew made me feel so comfortable during the entire two-day shoot. One of the most special things about the entire experience was that my grandmother (aka Poo Poo) was there to see it all. It was her first video, too," Palmer says with a smile.
"Country Girl," co-written by Palmer, Sarah Majors, Dan Shea, Shannon Sanders and Cory Rooney, officially hits country radio June 4, but has already received airplay on select stations nationwide. The single is from her self-titled debut CD to be released on 1720 Entertainment this fall.
